From Mr. Bronson: “We will be doing another session of the VMSS weight lifting group. We will be doing speed and strength training, Wednesdays and Thursdays, starting on Nov. 20th until Dec 19th.  We will meet in the Art room at 3pm and will lift weights until 4:30ish, there will be an activity bus leaving VMSS at 5 every night. This group is for 7th and 8th grade students who have never lifted weights all the way up to students who think they are really strong! The expectation is that students show up in gear to work out in and try everything with a great attitude. Anyone who cannot meet those expectations will not be invited back. You must return a permission slip to Mr. Bronson if you would like to participate.

You must have a sports physical on file with the school before parents sign you up on Edu Trak. The cost for sports is $110.00. THE LAST DAY TO SIGN-UP FOR WINTER I SPORTS IS OCTOBER 29^TH. From Mr. Vaillancourt: Valley Middle School’s Leadership and Critical Issues class and Apple Valley High School’s Student Council are hosting a Trunk or Treat for elementary and younger aged children in the Southview Elementary parking lot on Saturday October 26^th from 12:00 – 2:00.  There will be games, treats, and lots of fun!

From the District 196 Figure Skating Team: The District 196 Figure Skating Team is open to all 7th and 8th graders.  Come to an informational meeting on October 22, 7 pm at EVHS (lecture room) to find out about the District 196 Figure Skating Team and our upcoming season.  All abilities of skating are welcome on the team.

From District 196 Health Services: Dear ISD 196 Middle and High School Parent/Guardian,

 

Impaired vision and/or hearing can drastically impact a student’s ability to learn. During the months of October and November, District 196 nurses have partnered with the Eagan Lions Club to provide FREE vision screenings for 7th and 10th grade students under the MD5M Lions KidSight Foundation’s vision screening program. Valley Middle School 7^th grade vision screening will be Tuesday, October 22.

 

Members of the Lions Club have been certified in the use of a vision screener. The vision screener is capable of screening for near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism and pupil size deviations. The individual screening of students only takes a few seconds and is performed from a distance of about three feet. No eye drops are administered.

 

If the student does not pass the screening, a vision referral letter will be sent home recommending further examination by an eye professional. No notice will be provided if the student passes. If you do not want your child screened or you have questions, please contact your child’s school nurse.

From District 196 Health Services: Dear ISD 196 Middle and High School Parent/Guardian,

 

Impaired vision and/or hearing can drastically impact a student’s ability to learn. During the months of October and November, District 196 nurses have partnered with the Eagan Lions Club to provide FREE vision screenings for 7th and 10th grade students under the MD5M Lions KidSight Foundation’s vision screening program. Valley Middle School 7^th grade vision screening will be Tuesday, October 22.

 

Members of the Lions Club have been certified in the use of a vision screener. The vision screener is capable of screening for near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism and pupil size deviations. The individual screening of students only takes a few seconds and is performed from a distance of about three feet. No eye drops are administered.

 

If the student does not pass the screening, a vision referral letter will be sent home recommending further examination by an eye professional. No notice will be provided if the student passes. If you do not want your child screened or you have questions, please contact your child’s school nurse.

Do you enjoy singing? Are you looking to have some fun and make new friends? Advisory choir might be for you! Advisory choir is an opportunity for students in all grades to sing and perform. 

6th Grade Advisory Choir will take place on Gold days from 11:47-12:17 

7th Grade Advisory Choir will take place on Brown Days from 10:47-11:17

8th Grade Advisory Choir will take place on Gold Days from 12:47-1:17

Practice will begin next week Monday, October 7th.
